Frequently Asked Questions
So you’re planning your upcoming wedding and are interested in Honey Films to capture your day?
This will answer a few basic questions you may have, and we're always happy to answer any other questions for you!
Booking:
Our booking process is easy! First you must fill out our get in touch form on our packages page located on our website, https://www.honeyfilms.net/honey-films-investment so we can draft you a booking email.
In the email will be a copy of your film contract which must be signed and emailed back to us, and a link to pay your retainer.
(Note) The easiest way to sign is by downloading the image to you phone and sign with the pen tool in your phone’s picture editor.
The next step is paying your Retainer. Retainers are typically only 30% of your wedding package and can be easily paid by debit or credit card, or mailing a check. We will include a link in your booking email so you can pay your Retainer. Be aware, the card link does include a 3% fee.
Once we receive your contract and Retainer, we will confirm that you have been added to the official Honey Films calendar. Congratulations, the date is yours and we are your official videographer!
Your remaining balance is not due until wedding day. We will reach out to you about a week before the wedding day to send your final payment link, and get your wedding day timeline so we can plan accordingly. We recommend handing us a check on wedding day to avoid card fees.
Before the wedding:
Your film package includes a bride and groom letter or vow reading. This is completely optional and you do not have to share your letter. If you do wish to have it recorded, we will often use parts of these letters when creating your film. On wedding day we will record your letter before the first look, or ceremony. It’s important you let your photographer know to add a few minutes into their timeline for this, and there are no pictures allowed during the readings, as we need a clean audio reading to use for your video. We will take each of you aside to a quiet room to capture your letters separately before you read them to each other officially.
Wedding day:
The big day has finally arrived!
Depending on your package, Honey Films may arrive with the photographer to setup our film cameras and film details such as your invitation, flowers, rings, jewelry, garter, shoes, and other important items. Please have these set aside in the morning when you arrive.
Once details are complete, we film your day as it happens for the hours we are on site. We work alongside your photographer to film your day. Our main goal is to make sure you have the celebration of your life, and don’t have to stress or worry at all! We communicate with your photographer on wedding day to make sure everything goes as planned.
Editing:
Once the dust has settled and the wedding is behind us, it’s time to backup and edit your footage.
Your film will be a perfect representation of your wedding day.
Honey Films documents all those special moments on camera and crafts a cinematic, documentary style wedding film. The music in your film will be selected by our editors based on the“spirit” of the day or scene we are editing.
We use professional, licensed music specially designed for film so you don’t have to worry about copyright violations, or lawsuits when sharing your film on any social media platforms. Honey Films does not use popular songs in our videos, unless licensed.
Want to use a popular song in your film? Talk to us, but please be aware that many popular song licenses are very costly and can sometimes be difficult to acquire. Honey Films does not cover fees to license popular music.
Delivery:
Honey Films works in order of our calendar bookings. In general, it takes us about a month to start your edit and each film takes roughly a week to complete once started. We aim to have your film completed as soon as possible!
Depending on the film package, here is what to expect:
After the wedding, some packages come with a teaser or sneak peek video. If your package includes this, we will begin work immediately and have that delivered to you within the first week or two after the wedding day. We typically post these teaser videos on our social media, or share a link with you via text message to view and download your teaser and share with family and friends if you let us know that you do not wish your content to be made public. Once we complete your teaser video we will begin editing your full film. We aim to deliver every video within 1 or 2 months.
Every package (except the Sweetheart video, and Highlight video) comes with a separate full ceremony video, and some select RAW clips of the more important memories from the day such as, first dances, first looks, letter readings, etc.
Some packages such as the Keepsake or Honey Film include family and friend’s interviews from wedding day. We gather as many important people and ask them to say congratulations, give advices, or share memories. These interviews will be delivered to you separately as well. If your package does not include these special interviews, you can add them on to any smaller package!
If your package includes a USB via US mail, your USB may include: Cinematic edit, full ceremony video, letter/vow readings, first dances, first looks, and interviews from friends and family.
All the video RAW files are not given out, but can be purchase for $700. We will mail you a USB external storage device will all RAW footage from the day. Please message us if interested in purchasing RAW files.
